Amanda Ran a 5k Road Race!

Amanda has been busy doing other things, but I'm too proud of her to let the news languish longer. Amanda ran her first 5k road race last Saturday, and finished in great time, keeping her pace through the entire course!

The race was a fund raiser, supporting the fight against cancer. This was their third annual, and by far their best participation. The turnout (some 900 runners and walkers) may have had something to do with the weather: being January, the last two years they ran through snow and slush, but this Saturday was 45ºF and sunny. There wasn't even gravel on the road from previous clearings! It was really just a beautiful day to be out and about, and perfect conditions to run the race.

I also ran, but my time was not as good as my last race. It was still fun running, and great watching Amanda exceed her goal.

Christmas and New Year's 2011/2012

What a wonderful Christmas. So great to see everyone.

I had to put my new pizza cutter to work. Made a homemade pizza on New Year's Day. It worked great!

Now, I need to get some ice cream. I have heard it is tasty to get really good vanilla ice cream and put a little Bailey's over it. I am sure it will taste even better using a hand turned scoop.

We are Christmasing over 3 weekends. First with all of the Worms, then with just us over New Years weekend, then this coming Saturday with my family. Whew!

On New Year's Day we took a little hike to check on Jeff's new BFF.
