We went to London

Hi Everyone,

Bryan and I went to London for a vacation from April 16-29. We had a lovely time, and I have been meaning to share a few pictures.

At King's Cross Station at the entrance to Platform 9 3/4.
In a flying Ford Anglia, with the Hogwarts Express at The Making of Harry Potter in Leavesden.

In the T.A.R.D.I.S. control room at the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff.

All these pictures were taken by the professionals, so we could both be in them - and they did a pretty good job!

We took the Tube and other trains and walked all over. We visited lots of museums (the British Museum, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, National Portrait Gallery) and historical sites (the Tower of London, Kensington Palace, Cardiff Castle). We had tea at three different places: the Orangerie at Kensington Palace, the Jubilee Tea Room at Fortnum & Mason, and sushi tea at Ichiban in the Park Plaza hotel.

We ate lots of tasty food of various kinds including shepherd's pie in a pub down the street from our hotel, salt beef on bagels from a hole-in-the-wall place in Shoreditch, Indian food in Covent Garden, and fish and chips in Camden Town. We also managed to meet up with some friends, including one of Bryan's fraternity brothers and his adorable daughter, and several of Bryan's former co-workers.

We accidentally saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace one morning. We browsed in Harrods, Marks & Spencer, and Primark (where I bought Harry Potter socks and a belt). We drank pints of local beers in various pubs, and we had some very creative and tasty cocktails in out-of-the-way cocktail bars.

Mostly, we relaxed and enjoyed being in a new place. We'll go again!

Love,
Amanda
