I have a book to recommend.
It is called "The Magic Room" by Jeffrey Zaslow. "A story about the love we wish for our daughters."
It is about a bridal shop called Becker's Bridal in Fowler, Michigan. It tells the story about the shop and many of the brides who came and bought their dresses there. It also speaks of how the times are changing. It opened in 1934 and has been family run ever since.
Very sweet read. I am reading it slowly and savoring it.
I will look for your read! I love books that we can "savor"! Thanks
ReplyDeleteI ordered it from my library. I am reading a book right now that I WOULD NOT recommend called "The Magicians". Basically author Lev Grossmand takes the Harry Potter novels and mixes them with events and content from the Chronicles of Narnia while also adding sex, alcohol and drugs. I am not sure I will make it to the end...and to think there is a sequel book also. Ick. Before this book I enjoyed a book of short stories ( although many were sad) by Edith Pearlman called "Binocular Vision". Before that I read " The Hare with Amber Eyes" which I just loved. It is a non-fiction book by Edmund de Waal following his family's history through these little carvings his ancestors purchased several centuries ago in Japan. Well not literally through the carvings eyes but how the statues moved around the world and how they were saved from the Natzi's.
