December 24, part 2 - Christmas Eve Food

Our dear friends in California sent us a box of tasty treats from the German Christmas Market! I know what we'll be snacking on tonight!

This box includes chocolates, Lebkuchen, Marzipan, and spice cookies - some of our favorites!

We are also planning to break out the eggnog! Bryan bought a brand new bottle to age his batch of Alton Brown's Aged Eggnog, which he started in early November.

Since we are staying home and have no particular commitments, we thought we would indulge in a meal that we only make about once a year. It is fun, but it takes a long time to enjoy properly: Fondue.

We will do two courses:
  • Cheese fondue, with bread, roasted and raw veggies, and apples to dip
  • Chocolate fondue, with apples, bananas, clementines, marshmallows, and maybe some cookies to dip
We had a momentary panic yesterday when I realized I had not bought Sterno at the grocery store - but we have some big candles, so we will use those instead - the Sterno usually keeps the pot too hot anyway!

Leave a comment, or send me an email with a picture and description, if you want to share some of your Christmas Eve food!
